Ancient Online: Remastered is a new Turkish-made MMORPG from Astronaut Entertainment, an independent studio founded in Türkiye: a classic Eastern fantasy world that will be free to play. This post tells the story of the game: who is building it, why we chose this game, what technology we are building it with, and where it stands today.

Ancient Online: Remastered is in development; it is currently in closed alpha and no release date has been announced. The systems described here may change before launch.

Who is building it?

The game is being built by Astronaut Entertainment (ASTENT), a small independent game studio founded in Türkiye in September 2019. Ancient Online: Remastered is the studio's first project, and we write both the game client and the game server ourselves.

To get to know the studio, its principles and the way it works, read Who is Astronaut Entertainment? on the studio website.

The story: from prototype to closed alpha

  • September 2019, founding: The studio set out with a single goal: to build a persistent online world that players could live in for many years.
  • The first prototype: The first playable version, code-named "Project M", already had rival empires, open-world hunting grounds and gear upgrading.
  • Infrastructure and combat: The next period went into how hits feel, how the server performs in crowded scenes and how the in-game economy stays balanced.
  • Announcement: The project was announced as Ancient Online: Remastered, and localization work began.
  • Today: The game is in full production on Unreal Engine 5.8 and in closed alpha.

Why this game?

An MMORPG is a place players live in for years: a world where friendships are made, guilds are born and effort means something. That is exactly what we wanted to build: a classic Eastern fantasy MMORPG with three rival empires, six classes, open-world PvP and characters that grow with patience.

That goal shapes most of the decisions we make:

  • A solid foundation over a quick launch. A system opens when it is mature and has passed testing.
  • Player trust over short-term revenue. Power is not sold for real money.
  • Effort that lasts. The maximum level is 99 and there are no seasonal resets; we explain why in our design pledge.

Unreal Engine 5.8 and our own server

We build the client in Unreal Engine 5.8 and the server on C++ technology we wrote from scratch. Owning both gives us two things:

  • A world built with today's technology: Dynamic weather and seasons, a day and night cycle, and optional Lumen lighting. Details are in our post on dynamic weather, seasons and the day and night cycle.
  • A game where the server makes the rules: The server decides the outcome of movement and combat; the player's device only shows what the server reports. This makes life harder for cheating clients and means everyone plays by the same rules.

Five platforms, one world

Ancient Online: Remastered is designed so that PC and mobile players meet in the same world. The five target platforms are Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS; the development build is currently tested on Windows and Android devices.

Your account is not tied to a device. Phones get their own touch interface, and gamepads are supported on PC. Details are in the PC and mobile cross-platform guide, and device specs are on the system requirements page.

30 languages, including Turkish

The game and the official website target 30 languages, including Turkish. So that players who speak different languages can understand each other, chat messages are translated into the reader's language by a translation system running on our own servers.

Our no pay-to-win pledge

Ancient Online: Remastered is free to play, and our rule is simple: you cannot buy power with real money. The in-game shop only offers costumes, appearances and convenience items, and none of them grant combat power, experience or in-game currency. Rare items, ranks and leaderboard places are earned in the game.

We explain point by point how this rule is enforced in our no pay-to-win post.

Where we stand in 2026: closed alpha

As of 2026, this Turkish MMORPG is in closed alpha; on the website it carries the "Alpha I" label.

  • The game is not open to everyone yet; you enter the closed alpha with an access key. We explain how it works in the closed alpha guide.
  • No release date has been announced. When there is one, we will announce it first on this website and in our Discord community.
  • The live status of the login server and the game channels is shown on the server status page.
